Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks volume 16 Blog Tour Road Rally

Welcome to the first day of the Blog Tour and thank you for taking a pit stop at my blog. I am very excited to have my block 'Saffy's Star' appear in this issue. To quote a phrase - "It's been a long and winding road to get here." Saffy's Star I originally created this block several years ago when I was designing quilts for my book "Amish-Inspired Quilts for Today's Home" along with several other blocks that I did not use. For the block that appears in the magazine, I used Fabrics by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics. I chose fabrics in Magenta, Blue and Gray for the background. Below is my original concept. You can see using different fabrics can give the block a whole new look and feel, and I felt the block needed an update to carry it forward into the future. The block was named after my cat, Saffron. Longarm Quilting Workbook by Teresa Silva

Hello, today it is my turn on the blog hop to talk about Teresa's (Quilting is My Bliss) new book. I am excited for Teresa and jumped at the chance to participate. Before I get started on the book, a little bit about how I know Teresa. I stated watching Teresa's quilting on social media feeds a couple of years ago. I saw how she developed her own quilting style and I was in the market for some quilters for my new book (New York Beauties and Flying Geese). I finally approached Teresa and asked if she would be willing to quilt a few of the quilts for my book. Fortunately she said yes, and since then I have sent her many quilts. We'll look at a few of the quilts a littler later in my post... When I first opened the book, I noticed that this would be a great book for someone that was considering the purchase of a longarm machine. A New Spin On Drunkard's Path

I am happy to be taking part in John's Blog Tour for his new book 'A New Spin On Drunkard's Path' C&T Publishing 2016. I first "met" John in 2010 as part of the McCall's Quilt Design Star. John's Round three quilt. Polaris, could have easily fit in this book with the Drunkard Path inspired border. I've gotten to know John better over the years and recently when we both had books published through Kansas City Star Quilts. I love how John has taken a very traditional block and given it new a life with fun settings and different and updated piecing techniques. I'm a sucker for anything with curved piecing and there are many quilts in the book that are on my to-do list. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time yet to actually make one - BUT I have done a couple of Virtual Quilts. One of my favorites in the book is his Nightfall Quilt.
