Stars n Strips Sneak Peek

Only days away from the release of my new book, so I though it was time for a second look into the book.  Today I am sharing 'Christmas Jewel'.  For this quilt I combined dupioni silk, cotton sateen, quilting weight cotton, and oriental fabrics. Of course, there is no need to stick with my color theme, but to mix various fabrics for a shimmery effect. As with all the quilts in this book, this is a variation on my Stars N Strips Block, which you are taught to make in the book in two different sized (8" and 12" blocks).

The picture here is of the finished quilt top. The final quilt is completed with quilting of holly leaves, candles and presents.

I've never sewn with anything but cotton woven; and it kind of scares me. But that is beautiful and I imagine so pretty in person with the different fabrics used.

Tonya, A little Magic Sizing goes a long way when working with loosely woven fabrics such as Shot Cottons, wovens or Homespuns.

Wow! That's really beautiful. As if you ever did anything that wasn't... ;)
